The exhibition titled “The Forgery Show” will soon be on view at Morris Adjmi Architects, New York.

The show features works by ArtRoster Art Atelier, a group of Northern California artists who reside at the base of Mt. Shasta. These artists use techniques from the Old Masters atelier system of the great European academic and impressionistic painting schools of the 18th and 19th centuries, for example, that of Jacques-Louis David, as well as the more contemporary methods. The selection of works on display features 21 pieces for the exhibition. For a majority of the artists, color is essential and often explosive. But for “The Forgery Show” the use of color has been stripped away, leaving behind versatility, skill, and a sense of interest. We created 21 pieces that are dead ringers for the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer, Soutine, Hopper and more. Several versions of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa greet you in the elevator bank to get things started. We were fooled by a few. Find out if you would be, too.
